GETTING BETTER : SAY NO TO TOXICITY AND SURGERY ! What you need to know about toxics in your cosmetic products? The studies are revealing the shocking truth: 1. Heavy Metal Hazard: The Health Risks of Hidden Heavy Metals in Face Makeup Environmental Defence, a Canadian environmental group tested dozens of common cosmetics products and found that virtually ALL OF THEM (100%) were contaminated with heavy metals. - 49 different face makeup items, including five foundations, four concealers, four powders, five blushes or bronzers, seven mascaras, two eye liners, 14 eye shadows, and eight lipsticks or glosses. Their testing revealed serious heavy metal contamination in virtually all of the products:
96 % contained lead
90 % contained beryllium
61 % contained thallium
51 % contained cadmium
20 % contained arsenic
Further, each product contained an average of 2 of the 4 metals of highest concern (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury), which are designated as toxic in Canada because of proven health concerns. Most of the products also contained an average of four of the eight metals tested (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, nickel, beryllium, thallium, selenium).
3. An earlier age of breast cancer diagnosis related to more frequent use of antiperspirants/deodorants and underarm shaving. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14639125 When we first reported on his work, Dr. McGrath had published peer-reviewed research in which he investigated a group of women with breast cancer. He found that the sooner they began using antiperspirants in their youth, the more frequently they used them, and the more frequently they shaved under their arms; the earlier they were diagnosed with breast cancer. The possible culprit, said Dr. McGrath, is the metal aluminum: the ingredient in antiperspirants that stops sweating.
